One Direction nominate writers for Brits 2012 Unsung Hero Award

Manufactured pop act One Direction are clearly happy to share the limelight – the karaoke teens have nominated their relatively unknown writers for the new Music Matters Unsung Hero Award at this year’s Brit Awards.

One Direction want to share the limelight at this year's Brit Awards. Happy to applaud their Swedish and American writing and production team, the band said: 'We want to nominate Rami Yacoub, Carl Falk and Savan Kotecha as they've been pivotal in building our sound. They are all extraordinarily talented and great guys.'

Acknowledging the role team had in One Direction's own Brit nomination, they added: 'They co-wrote and produced our first single What Makes You Beautiful which gave us our first number one and which is nominated for Best British Single of the year! They are all extraordinarily talented and great guys too!'

The 2010 X Factor stars are set to battle it out with fellow former contestants Olly Murs and JLS in the single category, one of only three awards voted for by the public.
