Nialls dad fears group 'comedown' #fb

Niall Horan’s father worried about a potential comedown for the boys…

One Direction may be enjoying phenomenal success in America but the father of band member Niall Horan is already worried about what will happen when it’s all over.

Earlier this week, One Direction made US chart history by becoming the first UK band to debut at No 1 with their album Up All Night.

Niall’s dad, Bobby Horan, made the comments in an interview with 2FM.

He said: "The only thing I'm worried about is hopefully it'll be a long period being at the top.

“The comedown from that, I'm a little bit worried about. It's always at the back of my mind. You're up there on a high, but it's a big drop after that."

However, the popstar’s dad, who is a butcher by trade, felt confident his son was coping well with the pressure of fame, adding: "But he seems to be coping with everything brilliantly - a lot better than I would."

Speaking about One Direction's album success in America, Horan recalled: "Niall told me on Tuesday night that they were going to get to number one. It was a surprise to him, and it was to us as well. We thought they were going to be close but they didn't think they'd make number one. Thank God they did."

He added: "They've been there for the past couple of weeks doing promotional work and they have worked their butt off. He's very grounded but he's buzzing. He's on a real high now."

According to Nielsen SoundScan figures, One Direction managed to sell 176,000 copies of Up All Night in its first week on sale.

Speaking of their achievement, Niall said: "We just found out that we are No.1 in America and as you can imagine, we are over the moon!

"When we got put together as a group, we couldn't imagine ourselves coming to America, let alone releasing our album here, so for us to be sitting at the top of the US album charts is unbelievable. We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us in the US."

To celebrate their achievement, One Direction revealed that they are hoping to perform for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee gig in June.

They’ve also announced a 20-date tour of North America, to begin in May.
